Most students need extra help with homework at some point. We asked the high school administration about available resources, and they suggested:
Students:
1. Visit with your teachers after school. Teachers are available to provide after school help until 3 p.m. daily, except Wednesdays.
2. Set up a study group with a group of students in your class. You can meet after school to work on homework and study for tests. Talk with your teacher if you need help setting up a study group.
3. Mondays through Thursdays students can use the library after school to do homework until 3:30 p.m. Late buses provide transport home at 4:00 p.m.
4. Consider hiring a tutor. If you need assistance, contact the department head for names of tutors in the area.
Parents:
1. Communicate with your child's teacher. Send them an e-mail or leave a voice mail message and you will get a response within 48 hours from the teacher.
2. If your child is having difficulties in more than one class, or is having issues understanding or "clicking" with a teacher, contact their guidance counselor to set up a meeting. The guidance counselors are a wealth of information and can direct the student towards available resources for extra help.
